Obituary for Ludmila Karwowski (Roszkiewicz)

Ludmila Karwowski (Roszkiewicz)
Karwowski, Ludmila - Passed away peacefully of an age related illness at Hillsdale Estates on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Predeceased by her husband Alek who she was married to for over 50 years. They shared a true bond and absolute devotion to each other.

Dear, kind, loving and generous mother of Roman, Stan and his wife Suzanne. She was a proud mother of her children but in the latter years of her life – her pride and joy were her two grandsons (Alex and John – Patrick). She proudly wore the title of best grandmother for over twenty years.

Ludmila grew up in Minsk Poland, the youngest member of a Catholic family. In September 1939, her life was changed forever, when Russian troops invaded their homeland. During the war years, the family moved several times throughout Poland and Germany, and unfortunately she experienced the many horrors of war. She arrived in Canada after the war as a domestic worker in Montreal. After working two years, in Montreal, she then moved to Oshawa to be reunited with brother (Eugene Roszkiewicz) . She met her husband at a dance and was engaged after six weeks and was married in August 2, 1952. She enjoyed hosting and spending holidays with her friends and her brother Eugene and his wife Mary. She worked very hard to raise her family and she took pride in everything she did.. She was proud of her polish heritage and was a member of the Polish Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.. After raising her family, she ventured into the working world working for Chrysler Canada. Upon retirement she enjoyed her many trips to Hawaii with her best friend, husband Alek. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her so dearly. A special thank you to the staff at Lavender Lane (Hillsdale Estates) for their care, comfort and compassion in her final weeks.

Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East Oshawa on Sunday June 1, 2014 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm with prayers at 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday June 2, 2014 at 10a.m. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society Ontario- Research would be appreciated and may be made, along with condolences, by visiting www.armstrongfuneralhome.net.
