Smith, Leigh Brenda (nee McMillan) –Following a very short, yet courageous fight, peacefully surrounded by her family at Lakeridge health Oshawa on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the age of 59. Leigh, beloved wife and soul mate for 30 years of Barry Smith. Cherished mother of Alex Smith and Deanna Williams, Jessica Smith, and stepmother of James Smith and Catherine Jackson. Loving daughter of Rev. Garth and Joyce McMillan. Deeply loved sister of Brian and Marsha McMillan and Sandi McMillan and Terry Middleton. Sweet Auntie Leigh of Jennifer McMillan, Mike McMillan and Shar Laing, Christine and Andrew Pearson and Stacey Horning and Kenny Johnston. Dear niece of Sandy and Maureen Sandrock and cousin of Todd and Sharla, Tara and Andy and Sean and their children Kiera and Jordan, Connor and Allie, and Roman. Dear God child of Claude and Bernice Bell. Leigh is predeceased by her grandparents Henry and Muryelle Sandrock.
Sister-in-law of Doug and Liz Smith, Wendy and Ivan Leblanc, Gord and Debbie Smith, Bonnie and Gary Lennon, and Darryl and Sue Smith, Aunt of Jennifer, Colin, James and Kyle Smith, Michael and Cory Leblanc, and Shellyanne and Raj Arjune. Grandkids Aiden Talan and Faolan Smith, and great niece Natalie Arjune.
Leigh will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her generous heart, her listening ear, and her caring soul. Leigh loved her work at Value Village in Whitby and the opportunity to sing in any situation. A heartfelt thanks to the staff on C6 and 4F palliative care, with special thanks to nurses Bob and Bree, Paul, Laney, Mary, Dana and Stephanie for the wonderful care you gave Leigh for the last three months. Family and friends may call at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St. E., Oshawa on Thursday, October 23rd from 6-9pm. A celebration of Leigh’s life will be held in the chapel on Friday, October 24th at 1pm. Memorial donations to Hearth Place Cancer Support would be greatly appreciated by Leigh's family.
