DACIUK, Mykola (Nick)
Peacefully, in his 91st year, Nick passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, December 7th, 2014.
Beloved husband to Anna whom he was married to for 69 years, cherished father to his daughter Marika and son Peter and wife Darlene. Grandfather to 3 grandchildren who were his pride and joy. John Daciuk (Shannon), Michael Daciuk (Heather), Katherine Henneke(nee Daciuk)(Mathew). Great Grandfather to Caiden, Haven, Caleb, Lucas and Kale.
Nick and Anna arrived in Canada in 1948 and began a new life in Val D’Or, Toronto and Whitby after the war. He worked various jobs to make ends meet and retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. He had a love of fishing, family and gardening. He was a true, unselfish man who would do anything for anyone, anytime. He was a faithful member of St. George the Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church. He and Anna sang for many years in the Trembita Choir.
The family would like to thank all the support workers- Marianna, Shar, Sabrina and Sheryl- who made his last year at home comfortable and honoured his wishes.
Visitation will take place at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124King St. E., Oshawa) on Wednesday December 10, from 2-4 and 7-9pm, Panachyda at 7:30pm. Funeral mass to be held at 10 am on Thursday, December 11 at St. George’s Ukrainian Parish, followed by burial at St. Wolodymyr and St. Olha Ukrainian Cemetery.
