ALVES, JOSÉ FERNANDES – Passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sunday, March 26, 2017.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife Maria Nazaré of 44 years. Beloved father to Joseph, Victor (Nicole) and Ruth (Carlos). Devoted Vôvô to Emma, Samantha and Emilia. Much loved brother of Maria Esmeralda (Sabino) and Victor (Lola). Proud Tio to many nieces and nephews.
José was a proud, hard-working employee of General Motors for 30 years.
He loved his wife, family, friends and fishing. He enjoyed watching his Montreal Canadiens and his favourite soccer team, Sporting Clube de Portugal. He enjoyed his life and all the people he was blessed to share it with. His strength, courage, kindness and gratitude during his battle with cancer was admired by all who knew him. Our deepest and heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff on 4F at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for making Jose’s final days so special. He will be forever missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Resting at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with visitation on Wednesday, March 29th, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, March 30th at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the R.S. McLaughlin Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in Jose’s name would be greatly appreciated.
