Condolence: Hello Val, Victor, Lydia, Olga, & "Minny":

I was so very saddened to learn of your Mom's passing away just a few short minutes ago, here, on-line…

But seeing her name & face again also brought back a rush of GOOD memories within me --- remembrances of joint family parties & celebrations at your old place on far-off(!) Taunton Road, and all of the excitement of your new-found "country living estate" at Morgans & Highway 2 in Newcastle. I can especially recall, with fondness, marvelling at your father's & grandfather's skill & aptitude at resourcefully erecting an ad hoc saw mill on that latter site, & then proceeding to raise your house, using the natural materials that were immediately available nearby.

And "Gigo's" loud & booming voice…! What a great time to be a kid growing up in the midst of all that. I wouldn't trade ANY of it for the world…as a matter of fact, I drove by your old homestead not one hour ago, on a leisurely trip back from downtown: I sure would have liked to have seen its insides again. As a kid at the time, your house just seemed MASSIVE to me --- and if I recall correctly, it even had TWO separate furnaces!

My biggest regret is not having said anything to your Mom the one time that I ran into her in the early 90's, just after we had moved to Newcastle, ourselves: she was leaving the "Gruffie's" variety store that was on Highway 2, cane in hand --- and I was going in. We both sorta gave each other the visual once-over…and that was that.

Well, at least it's still not too late for me to extend my greetings to all of you at this time. I wish you all nothing but upcoming good times & pleasant memories in your lives, not dis-similar to what I shared with each of you, growing up in the 50's & 60's…
