Obituary for Robert Harold "Bob" Coombes

Robert Harold "Bob" Coombes
Born on a farm, he loved the land,
he never became a city man.
He worked on the farm, then a saw mill
in his hometown of Bowmanville.

He changed jobs to drive a bull dozer,
and helped to build roads all over.
In the summer he enjoyed this job,
but in winter there was no work for Bob.

He married and had his first son Les,
now his finances became an awful mess.
So he took a job at the General Motors,
and worked on Rolly's Farm, oh familiar odors.

Alan, Stephen and Susan soon came,
four children now his claim to fame.
A few years later, he was left alone,
to raise these children on his own.

A struggle, oh yes, but he did his best,
to be mother and father, he got little rest.
Two years later, help came at last,
and those struggles were a thing of the past.

That helper became the love of his life,
and he adopted the 2 children of his wife's.
Between the two they had Kevin,
his heart was broken,
when Kevin was taken to Heaven.
