A long term resident of Oshawa passed away on August 21st, 2017 at the Ajax Ballycliffe Nursing Home. She was 91 years old. Gilberte was a dedicated mother, a tireless volunteer worker, a confidante to many, an animal lover and had a heart of gold. She is survived by her son Jean-Yves Gilbert, her daughter Sylvie Babin, grandchildren Jaime, Nicolas and Michael (Gilbert), Julie and Justin (Babin), great-grandchildren Dylan, Kennedy and Brier, siblings Jeanne d’Arc Nadeau (Sauveur), Jeannine Sevigny (Lucien), Valere (Claudette), Gaston (Rollande), Marcel (Normande), Rev. Roland, Jean-Guy (Marie-Claire), many nieces and nephews, predeceased by husband Yvan, sister Claire Pouliot (Charlot) and brother Philippe. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home 124 King St. E. Oshawa. Visitation on Friday August 25th from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at Assomption de Notre Dame Church 384 Hillside Ave. Oshawa on Saturday August 26th at 11am. Reception at L’Amicale Community Centre 707 Simcoe St. S. Oshawa immediately following the funeral. All are welcome. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
