Obituary for Donald Eric Macleod

Donald Eric  Macleod
Donald Eric Macleod passed away on October 13, 2017 at his home in Oshawa. He will be greatly missed by his brother David Macleod (Beth) and nephews Ian (Kelli) and Jamie Macleod (Norah), grand-nieces Abigail and Eliza. He is also mourned by friends and associates in the Back Door Mission. Donald is predeceased by his parents Irving and Margaret Macleod and aunt Eleanor Sanderson. Donald earned a PhD in Canadian History at the University of Toronto and worked for many years in the Archives of Ontario and records and policy management for the province of Ontario. Donald also served as editor for 3 years of the professional Journal Archivaria. Donald was active with Mariposa and other folk festivals and was an enthusiastic and expert lover of many genres of music. In retirement, he was active in Simcoe Street United Church and a leader in expanding the services of the Back Door Mission in downtown Oshawa. Friends may call at the Armstrong Funeral Home 124 King St E, Oshawa on Tuesday October 17, from 7pm until 9 pm. A memorial service will be held at Simcoe Street United Church at 2pm on Wednesday October 18, 2017. Donations in memory of Donald may be made to the Back Door Mission or Simcoe Street United Church.
