Obituary for Anne Thickson

Anne Thickson
ANNE THICKSON
1928-2017

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother. Mum was admitted to hospital on October 15, 2017 and diagnosed with cancer several days later. With her typical strong will and determination, she tried to stay with us but was overcome with the disease. She passed peacefully on November 5, 2017 at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie; with family by her side.

Dearly missed by her son Wayne (Cathy); daughter Kathy (Rodney) and step-daughter Beverly. She was adored by grandchildren Toby (Sarah), Laura (Dave), Jesse (Julie), Tom, Samuel; step-grandchildren Justin, Brooke, Alisha,
Cynthia and great-grandchildren Hunter, Charlotte, Savannah, Maximus, Tex and Annalee. Fondly remembered by her nephews and their families. Predeceased by parents Michael and Dora Szmyr, brother Peter Shmyr, her first husband Kenneth Gibson, son Richard Gibson and second husband William Thickson.

Anne was a fun loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was strong willed, always stayed positive; an inspiration to all. She never lost her gentle, playful sense of humour and her love of cats. We are so thankful for the cherished memories of our family trips with her. Somehow, she always looked much younger than her age; even into her 80’s it was remarkable.

The family would like to thank the nurses, care workers and staff of Lakeside Retirement at Innisfil and especially thank the doctors and nurses at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Barrie Cancer Palliative Inpatient Unit for their heartfelt care in her last weeks.
