Obituary for Leokadia Feliksa Cal (Jaworek)

Leokadia Feliksa Cal (Jaworek)
Cal, Leokadia “Laura” - It is with great sadness that we announce that Leokadia “Laura” Cal (née Jaworek) passed away peacefully on February 11th in her 90th year. She is survived by her son John and daughter Sophia and by a large extended family both here and in Poland. After surviving WW2 in Warsaw, where she played a role in the Polish Resistance, and then the Soviet era, she finally arrived in Sudbury in 1962 to start a new life. She married Czesław Cal (d. 1979) and was a homemaker who became famous for her “pączki”. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of Bendale Acres Nursing Home in Scarborough on behalf of her children. In lieu of flowers donations to The Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.

Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home at 124 King Street East in Oshawa. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place at St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church at 411 Olive Avenue in Oshawa at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 15. Reception to follow at Armstrong Funeral Home.
