Condolence From: Santiago Family
Condolence: Dear Green family,

We are so sorry for your loss. Please let us share a hope for the future that has has brought our family much comfort. Please read Gods promise for the near future in John 5:28,29 and Acts 24:15. He gives us the hope to see our loved ones again in a paradise earth, Psalm 37:29. How beautiful it'll be when sickness and death will be done away with.

Please know that Jehovah God will sustain you through this intense sadness. Approach God in prayer trusting that he will help you. (Psalm 65:2) We hope this has brought a measure of comfort to you and your family. Feel free to write to us, if you wish.

Again, we are sorry for your loss.

Sincerely,

Santiago family

Barb and I were in the same class at Toronto Teacher's College in 1967. Imagine my delight that she taught our 3 sons in Grade One. We would see each other at Board events over the years and she would always ask about them and speak of you with such pride. The last time I saw her was during March Break 2017 at a library program where we had each brought a grandchild. She took great delight in introducing her grandaughter and explaining to my grandson that she had taught his daddy and that he looked so much like him. Full circle. I was sad to read of her passing. She has left many with beautiful memories. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Condolence: Adam, Alaina & Barb's special grand daughters,

I was so sad to see that your courageous mother, with so much to offer our world, had left this earth on another journey.
We all knew Barb from different places at different times but the same wonderful descriptors are repeated over and over in these messages to you. Her wit, humour, love of children, spontaneity, intelligence, devotion to her career,, love of life, sense of adventure, creativity and so much more are mentioned.
She was a joy to know.
We first met taking university courses in our 20's. Both of us loved to travel and in 1979 we ventured off to Ireland and Scotland with Barb H. and a friend of mine.
I still laugh every time I think of our adventures. We all had so much fun. We shared a Bunratty Csstle medieval banquet with many amusing anecdotes, kissed the Blarney Stone, shooed sheep of roadways when they were disinterested and we had places to go! Barb would exit the car and wave her arms talking to the animals. She and Barb H. had so many hilarious stories to tell of their caravan week and the horse that wasn't too co-operative ... I will remember the laughter and good times we shared many years ago. Rest in peace, Barb. You have touched many and will never be forgotten.

Condolence: Dear Adam and Family,
So very sorry to hear that your mom/grandma has passed away. Both of our daughters enjoyed her as their grade one teacher and always came home with the most unique art projects! One of them involved the pink, sparkling paint on one of your discarded, size 13 shoes!
Her enthusiasm and energy was always positive and the twinkle in her eyes was always bright. Keep her sparkle always with you in your memories of her as I'm sure everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her will do.

Condolence: Dear Adam and family...it was with great sadness and shock that I heard of your mom's passing. She was a wonderful colleague to work with at S.J.Phillips, and was loved by her many students. I will always remember her laughter and witty humour. Her cheery presence and interesting conversation will be greatly missed at our monthly retirees breakfasts. Unfortunately I am currently out of town and unable to attend Barb's funeral, but my thoughts are with you at this time. Sending you all hugs and my deepest condolences at this difficult time.

Condolence: Dear Adam & Family;
It was my pleasure and privilege to work with your Mom at Dr. Phillips. She was always a ray of sunshine, cheerful and loving to all of her students. Barb also spoke with great love of her son Adam - you were a great source of pride to her. Please take comfort in the wonderful memories you share with others of the kind and loving person your Mom and Grandmother was. She will be missed by many.

Condolence: Adam & Family
January to June, grandparents ferrying granddaughters to their weekly lesson. Barb always early---ensuring Audrey’s skates were on snuggly; coat, mitts and helmet just right. Barb sat on the bench with the best site line to our girls and I was to learn Barb’s generosity had no bounds. Barb kindly offered the five of us the option of sharing the seating---without adieu we became the new co-owners of said bench for the duration of skating lessons. What I must concede as most significant, is that Thursdays became the highlight of my week---sitting for a couple of hours each Thursday talking about life, family, our histories and our dreams. Barb was that best friend you always wished for--- whether speaking with Rick, my husband, my son Ryan or myself, her words always gave each of us a ‘heart smile’. We heard about the Green family Disney vacations --- ‘tour director and guide’ Barb, was able to point out the best places to stay and see, based on value and accessibility.
I personally found myself engaged in her life, attempting to understand how she could be so ‘awesome’. Barb was a strong woman; loving mother; nurturing and kind grandmother; a wonderful thoughtful, generous friend, full of anecdotal information and capable of remembering history, art, names, places and people---a human Encyclopedia Britannica---and loved mysteries as did I.
I/we won the lottery, when given a seat on Barb’s bench---although only a short time, I felt like we sailed through life together talking about travel, mysteries and ‘making meaning’ of life. It was a magical bench where four human beings shared thoughts, feelings, dreams, desires and foibles without fear of judgement or reprisal---Barb just had a way of creating such a space.
When I informed my son Barb had died, he had no words, as with all of us our throats tightened, and our hearts hurt too much to vocalize. She had made an indelible impression on all of our family with her demonstrative ‘ways of being’ ---a person living a life of meaning, character and humanity. I/we will carry the gift of Barb’s bench and revisit it, whenever there is a good mystery, a kind word, a comforting voice or a gleeful heart.

Condolence: Barb and I started at Phillips on the same day in 1968. She was a fine teacher and a great person. She always had a smile and was one of the most positive people I ever worked with. I always enjoyed talking to her at the breakfasts and luncheons she had a big part in organizing. She will be greatly missed.
