Obituary for Lidia Amendola (DeLeo)

Print
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family on October 15, 2018 at Hillsdale Terraces. She was born in Italy March 29, 1929 to parents Andrea and Giuseppina DeLeo (both deceased). Lidia was predeceased by her husband Giovanni Amendola and siblings Antonio and Paulina. She is survived by her sisters Dora in Canada and Marcella in Italy.
Lidia immigrated to Canada in early 1956 to marry Giovanni, a widower with six children. She had two daughters with Giovanni and spent her life managing this large Italian brood. She also worked outside the home over the years including a stint with the kitchen staff at Hillsdale Manor.
Lidia was a tireless, highly organized homemaker, a fabulous Italian cook, a voracious reader, gardener and hiker. She loved to be busy and the large family benefited tremendously from the structure and stability she provided with her high energy and hard work over the years.
Lidia will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Anna, Yolanda, Lina, Dora, Carmela, Maria, Frank and Tony and their spouses as well as her 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
