The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Walker can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

What a Man!

John was a very special person.  I will truly miss him.

At the Regiment my phone would ring every morning around 8:30am.  I knew it was John.  I would say my opening speech then I would hear, “Is this the radiantly beautiful Charlotte of the Ontario Regiment?”  John was always one for flattery.  It really surprised me that he was up so early in the morning.  He would always let me know if or when he would be in.  “I won’t be in until around 2:00 because I’m taking Mom out for lunch today.”  I would reply “you’re such a good boy.  Enjoy your lunch.”  Or if he was asking me to do something for him he would always tell me to write it down because he knew I forgot a lot of the time.

It got so that when I called him I would start off with “Is this the radiantly handsome John Walker of the Officers’ Mess?”  We had quite the fun time being the only 2 civilians.

Before his recent computer purchase he would ask “can you do a favor for me?”  I learned very early on to ask what it was before saying yes.  Being the jokester he was you could never trust that it was an innocent request.  John always liked me to type letters for him.  I only think it was because his typewriter was broken.

We here at The Ontario Regiment orderly room have noticed a void in our lives since John went to hospital.

John rest in peace I will always remember you.

Love always

“The radiantly beautiful Charlotte of The Ontario Regiment”
